James Hadfield feat. Danny Linton – Soak EP

soak

“Soak by James Hadfield, featuring Danny Linton, is one of the main reasons for the launch of Me Me Me and a record I love so much I have done my first remix for the label,” explains Man Power. Further remixes from Axel Boman and Bird Of Paradise cement a stellar third release on the burgeoning Me Me Me imprint.

Soak is a distinct and uncategorisable piece of electronic music, with a rich thread of emotion running through it so strongly, it remains within each remix, albeit distilled in different ways. Fellow North Eastern Englishman Bird Of Paradise (Correspondant / HAKT) turns in two differing atmospheric interpretations of the track (one appearing as a digital exclusive), while Studio Barnhus supremo Axel Boman brings his own inimitable style to his rework, and Man Power’s delivers a dreamy and forlorn infusion on this magnetic record.

James Hadfield has been releasing music over the last ten years under several guises including Lizards and Elizabeth Collective, although remains an elusive figure in the bubbling underground house and Balearic scene. Soak sees him teaming up with Danny Linton, best known as post dubstep producer Funk Ethics.

Man Power’s ear for the more captivating and experimental side of electronic music is being championing through Me Me Me, putting discerning dance floors to the test through its releases. 2017 contributions include Mike Simmonetti, Chida, Fort Romeau, Hammer, Rex The Dog, Daniel Maloso and many more.

BACKGROUND
Man Power has risen to prominence over the past few years through a beguiling versatility that is eminent in both his DJ and production style, leading to key releases on ESP Institute, John Talabot’s Hivern Discs, Permanant Vacaction and Throne of Blood. He currently holds residencies at the esteemed Topaz Deluxe in his new station of Monterrey and at the equally chic MN Roy of Mexico City and his critically acclaimed 2015 album on Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant led to his title as one of XLR8R’s Artists of the Year.

Dinky – Casa

casa

Chilean born and Berlin based Dinky has forged a solid and illustrious career over the past decade. ‘Casa’ announces her new album set for release on Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels this Autumn, with remixes from Axel Boman and Satori.

A trained classical guitarist, singer and keyboard player that has held a DJ residency at Berlin’s infamous Panorama Bar since 2004, Dinky’s sixth album, also titled ‘Casa’ will be the first since the birth of her two children. “Casa is an acid vocal love song. It translates as house in spanish, not because it’s a house album but because it was recorded in my house in Berlin whilst I was pregnant with my second son. I had to stay home (mainly in bed) for months due to a medical risk. Those where very scary times for me and my family as we were told we could lose him. It was a such difficult journey but I decided not to get down, but to channel my energy into writing music.’

Dinky’s delicate vocal on ‘Casa’ is both uptempo and spacious, with infusions of acid, leftfield and electronica in its veins. Axel Boman delivers a stunning, emotive and epic nine and a half minute dub version, overlaid with spoken word samples referring to lost experiences. The Swedish born producer is much-lauded for his releases on DJ Koze’s Pampa, Permanent Vacation and his own imprint, Studio Barnhus, formed with Kornel Kovacs and Petter of Border Community. While the hedonistic take from Satori takes ‘Casa’ up beyond the horizon. A future Crosstown Rebels artist, Satori has released on 8Bit, Under Your Skin and Bla Bla records.

For me it’s a very honest project and Damian loved it so I was more than happy to work with him again,’ Dinky enthuses on the long friendship that they have shared. ‘After taking a few years of intense touring, I felt ready to tour again and release my sixth album. Many of the songs were written for my sons, my husband, motherhood, love and also things that were happening in the world at the time.”

‘Casa’ sees a return to form for Dinky and a welcome return to the Crosstown imprint, after previously releasing a single and a mix album for the pioneering label.

Landside – Chains EP

landside

Landside is the collaboration between Italian producers Hunter/Game and the Icelandic band Kúra. The sound draws as much from the deep vibe and melancholy ambience of Kúraʼs reflective, dubby moods, as the more insistent groove of Hunter/Game’s dancefloor roots. Landside’s forthcoming Chains EP is a melting pot of dub vibes, breaking leads, and melancholic vocals. An obscure path through secret prophecies, sewing new worlds, combining ash and bones. A born spell, takes you into uncharted lands, a journey up to a mirage of a desert lake.

Axel Boman’s remix is fresh breath into a melancholic landscape, whose sonic shamanism hypnotizes you, and takes possession of your most magical vibration. Beacon’s Remix is a velvety story into a melody that cradles you in a soft dream while carrying a wild, free energy throughout.

Tracklist:
A1. Landside – Chains
A2. Landside – Desert Lake
B1. Landside – Chains (Axel Boman Remix)
B2. Landside – Chains (Beacon Reamix)

Lorenzo Dada – Love Apparel EP

CP060_artwork

Culpit’s 60th release is an occasion for two compelling label debuts: one – of an exciting young artist taking a significant step toward recognition, another – of the established master lending his magic touch.

Born in Rome and a classically trained pianist, Lorenzo Dada brings with him a lifetime of musical training and innate ability. A true natural, Lorenzo has balanced his musicality with a deep-seated love for dance music. Having been bubbling just under the surface for the past few years, ‘Love Apparel’ is Lorenzo’s statement of creative intent. The title track is built around a haunting piece of an original vocal, with layers of subtle harmonics perfectly complimenting it. ‘Love Apparel’ is the emotional centerpiece of the EP and one of the prettiest tunes in the Culprit catalogue.

‘Ministry of Night’ shows the same harmonic depth and continues ‘Love Apparel’s’ vocal theme, but ups the energy with its smart Detroit techno-inspired percussion. ‘Powder’ is built on the series of ethereal melodies and warm chords, riding along on another set of crisp percussion.

Culprit is particularly thrilled to call upon Axel Boman to remix ‘Love Apparel.’ Axel Boman delivers a deeply felt take on the song. Remaining respectful to the original, but adding his signature touches. Culprit regulars Bambook round out the release with their mellifluous rework of ‘Love Apparel’.

Release Date: February 24th.
