Roosevelt – Moving On (Joe Goddard Remix)

roosevelt

Marius Lauber AKA Roosevelt released his self-titled debut album via City Slang last fall to much acclaim, with Entertainment Weekly proclaiming Roosevelt is “Breaking Big,” Last Call With Carson Daly interviewing him in a Snap Shot feature, and wide praise from The Guardian, Pitchfork, NPR Music, The Wall Street Journal, Stereogum, Paste, Clash, DJ Mag, The Independent, Dummy, and more. Today, Roosevelt announced the Remixed 2 EP, out May 12th, 2017 on City Slang, sharing the Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) remix of album single “Moving On.” Lauber says, “Feels good to finally have a retouch by the guy who signed me on his record label 4 years ago.” Listen here:

Along with the Greco-Roman label co-founder Joe Goddard, the new EPfeatures remixes by German legend and inspiration Justus Kohncke, fellow Cologne dance stars Andhim, US re-edit king Brennan Green, and personal friends Moscoman and Cleveland. Tracklist below.

Roosevelt – who sold-out multiple dates, including 2 NYC shows, on his first ever headlining U.S. tour last fall – returns stateside for a brief run before playing Governors Ball and crossing the pond again for festival season. A full itinerary is listed below. Roosevelt also recently shared the Hector Prats-directed video for “Moving On”: https://youtu.be/-4FWJmHfLC0

Written, recorded and produced by Lauber over a period of two years, Roosevelt the album is a pillow-soft hallucinatory dreamscape of nocturnal reveries and a lilting sense of melancholia, where sounds build and swell like waves. From a pinch of French electro pop, a smattering of LA yacht rock, the hypnotic repetition of German pioneers like Ash Ra Tempel/Manuel Göttsching, and Neu!, to classic floor-friendly 80s pop from Chic, Talk Talk, and New Order, even Todd Terje and Metro Area are all weaved into his own unique sonic tapestry.

Remixed 2 EP tracklist:
1. Moving On (Joe Goddard Remix)
2. Moving On (Andhim Remix)
3. Wait Up (Moscoman)
4. Fever (Justus Kohncke Remix)
5. Heart (Cleveland Remix)
6. Belong (Brennan Green Remix)

Cosmic synths and twinkling atmospherics, Joe Goddard’s remix of Busy P’s latest offering ‘Genie’ is an addictive injection of extra texture and faster tempos. Premiered via Notion, the remix is the second to come in the series following closely behind the experimental delights of Reckonwrong and proceeding what promises to be a bonafide floor-filler from KDA.

Almost 2 years after his last release on the label with ‘Gipsy Life’, ‘Genie’ marks Busy P’s 6th release on and return to Ed Banger records. Recorded between Threesome Studio in Paris and Mayer’s studio in LA, the groove laden and infectious love song sees Busy P partners up with long-time friend, Mayer Hawthorne.

Michael Mayer, Joe Goddard – For You (DJ Koze Remixes)

ArtworkDJkoze.jpg

DJ Koze comes up to task for the next re-construction of Michael Mayer & Joe Goddard’s ‘For You’, following up from the re-interpretation by Diynamic’s Solomun and Pachanga Boys.

The maverick of flawless productions develops two narratives for this remix package: The first is a club mix composed of layered, floor-raising chords while ruffling up the original vocals gradually and elegantly. The second is a Mbira remix, filled with African-inspired percussive inklings and sprinkled with effortless melodic flourishes. With two accompanying instrumental versions, DJ Koze takes us to the final curtain, closing the end chapter to Michael Mayer’s acclaimed ‘&’ project.

Nils Bech – Glimpse Of Hope (Joe Goddard Remix)

nils.png

Norwegian star Nils Bech is a classically trained opera singer, now taking his vocal chops pop, incorporating performance art, electronica, and club culture into his latest LP Echo out now on DFA. Fusing synth pop, classical elements and dance music, the LP – produced by Drippin (LE1F, Cakes Da Killa) and Øyvind Mathisen – marks a pivotal turning point for Bech and something of a radical sonic departure as well.

Now, Bech reveals a brand new remix of “Glimpse of Hope” by Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard via Blackbook. In this remix, Goddard takes the tune to soaring, 80’s synth-pop heights, effortlessly showcasing Bech’s acrobatic vocals with sprightly retro-electronica (fans of Yazoo and Erasure take note).

Watch: “Glimpse Of Hope” Video

A favourite of the art world, Nils Bech has performed at such venerable venues and events as Venice Biennial, ICA (London), New Museum (New York) and the Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam).

He has also featured in two plays at the Norwegian National Theater, most recently in Shakespeare’s Richard III; where he performed excerpts from his third album Echo out now on DFA Records.

Already a star at home, Echo is Bech’s first album with DFA. The album explores “echoes” of the people in his life over the past five years; their search for love, how love can deceive and destroy, but also be the key to everything. Sonically, the record infuses urban, contemporary dance music with hip hop roots – hard beats in juxtaposition to Bech’s vulnerable bass-baritone

HONNE & Izzy Bizu – Someone That Loves You (Video + Joe Goddard Remix)

honne

HONNE have today announced details of their much-anticipated debut album, ‘Warm On A Cold Night’, which will be released on July 22nd via Atlantic Records. A video for new single ‘Someone That Loves You’ (with Izzy Bizu) also premieres today, with the track already having surpassed 2 million streams on Spotify and cracked the top 10 of iTunes’ Electronic chart. Below you can also stream the Joe ‘Hot Chip’ Goddard remix of the track.

Having sold out their recent European and US tour – including London’s Brixton Electric and New York’s Bowery Ballroom – HONNE have already been confirmed for the likes of Glastonbury, Latitude and Ibiza Rocks this summer: further headline live plans will follow shortly.

Cool and confident, ‘Someone That Loves You’ appears second nature to a band like HONNE, whose universal, positive portraits of twenty-first century romance have quickly won them a broad global audience: both parallel to – and a stark reaction against – the sometimes-brutal modern dating climate (“we were terrible at being single,” the band say now). Released this summer, their much-anticipated debut album – ‘Warm On A Cold Night’ – is a record where expressing feelings may not come naturally, but nonetheless strives for real love in the digital age.

HONNE are singer Andy and multi-instrumentalist James, who first bonded over their shared upbringing in South-West England; then, the more evocative, US West Coast grooves of their record collections, and a mutual fascination with Japan. During a midnight re-watching of ‘Lost in Translation’, it became apparent that this sense of a partner at a loose end – of wandering through a strange environment, and struggling to convey what you mean – was just as relevant to their lives off-screen. When James found the word ‘Honne’ later on (a Japanese phrase meaning ‘true feelings’), the boys knew it was theirs.

The first song HONNE ever finished, ‘Warm On A Cold Night’, now titles their stunning forthcoming debut album. Between the millions of stream and worldwide sell-out shows since then, the soulful duo have carved out an instantly-identifiable sound of their own (and in the shape of Andy, there’s also the sort of figurehead that you would almost dub an anti-frontman). The album track listing is as follows:

1. Warm On A Cold Night
2. Til The Evening
3. Someone That Loves You
4. All In The Value
5. Treat You Right
6. Out Of My Control
7. Coastal Love
8. It Ain’t Wrong Loving You
9. The Night
10. Good Together
11. One At A Time Please
12. FHKD
