Videos: RHYE – Blood Remixed

Rhye shares reworks by Tensnake, Jacques Greene, Poolside, Mansionair and Jeff Samuel from their forthcoming Blood Remixed album (due November 16th). The accompanying visuals for these re-imaginations of songs from their sophomore album continue the late night Berlin club narrative established by RY X’s “Waste” last month.

Drawing from Rhye and creative partner Genevieve Medow Jenkins’ shared experience living in Berlin and conceptualized / directed by Jenkins, the remix visuals are expressions in movement that mimic the sound and feeling of each track. Tensnake’s “Count To Five” follows the dancer Bounce (the girl with the blue hair) and depicts her interactions with other characters. Poolside’s “Feel Your Weight” visual cuts to two male dancers at the rave and intermixes solo and interactive dances.

The 14-track Blood Remixed album includes additional re-imaginations by Washed Out, Tensnake, Channel Tres, and more. Mike Milosh’s resilient yet purposefully understated take on R&B stretches beyond the confines of any genre with the remixes, giving listeners the opportunity to hear Blood from a new perspective.

Rhye – Blood Remixed

Today Rhye announces the Blood Remixed album (due November 16th) and shares RY X’s remix of “Waste”. The 14-track album includes additional re-imaginations by Washed Out, Tensnake, Channel Tres, and more. Mike Milosh’s resilient yet purposefully understated take on R&B stretches beyond the confines of any genre with the remixes, giving listeners the opportunity to hear Blood from a new perspective.

Streaming today are RY X, Moon Boots, and Mano Le Tough’s remixes. RY X’s (who recently announced his forthcoming new album Unfurl) rework of “Waste” opens with haunting synths and creates a house atmosphere through subtle swells and syncopated rhythms. With the accompanying visual, Genevieve Medow Jenkins takes the directing helm and draws from her, Rhye, and RY X’s shared experience living in Berlin. It starts with a pair of nude figures in a spacious brownstone loft peering through the window in anticipation of what’s the come before transitioning into a magnetic after dark dance party inspired by the eclectic energy of Berlin’s nightclubs.

New York City’s Moon Boots opts to add a bit of his future disco sound to his take on “Taste,” giving the song an all-night club vibe. Underground favorite Mano Le Tough’s remix of “Taste” is the most experimental of the three, chopping Rhye’s smooth vocals and disseminating them across propulsive beats and discordant pockets of synth stabs.

Video: RY X – Bad Love

RY X is very pleased to unveil some new music, his first since the release of his debut album Dawn back in the spring of 2016. Bad Love is launched with a stunning video shot on location in Mexico.

Bad Love is directed by Ry and Irrum. It’s a remarkably visceral re-introduction to this magically haunting artist, recorded in LA and produced by Ry.

Ry will also play a string of European live shows in the Spring, many of which will find Ry and his band performing alongside the respective cities’ premier orchestras.

The Australian born artist, now based in LA, concluded touring Dawn earlier this year with two sold-out shows at Berlin’s Konzerthaus. Tickets for the 2018 shows go on sale via http://www.ry-x.com on Friday 22nd September – the seven shows conclude at the Town Hall in Shoreditch, London on the 1st March.

HOWLING – Phases

Howling return with “Phases” (supported via RA), the first new music from their forthcoming full-length. Released digitally on 8th March 2017 on Counter Records alongside a club version of the original, the single will be followed by remixes from Alex.Do (Dystopian) and Toto Chiavetta (Innervisions) which will see a vinyl and digital release via Innervisions.

“We began this track with a few synths and some obscure vinyl samples when we had some time together in California in an old wood and stone house looking down over the sea… everything was recorded there with all the beautiful scratch and hiss of a lounge room with windows open to the world… we shaped it further playing it live, learnt how it needed to flow and gently coerced it when we could in Berlin and Ibiza and anywhere we found ourselves in between… it found its way to its many forms and carries all those places and moments with it now..”

Consisting of Frank Wiedemann of  Âme and singer RY X of The Acid, Howling released their debut album “Sacred Ground” in 2014 to widespread acclaim. Described as “Flawlessly stunning production… A tranquil masterclass in downtempo electronics” by Mixmag, the record solidified their previous breakout success with the viral track ‘Howling’, and was complimented with a set of stunning remixes from the likes of Midland,Rødhåd and Radioslave.

Frank and RY X also took their collaboration out on the road, translating the album into a mesmerising live show and playing a string of sold out shows and festivals in the UK and across the world. They return to play live at Village Underground in London on the 15th April.

Tour Dates:
15/04: Village Underground, London, UK (tickets)
