Video: James Blake – My Willing Heart

James Blake has released a stunning video for ‘My Willing Heart’, a highlight from 2016’s acclaimed third album The Colour In Anything. He has also confirmed a run of live dates across the summer, including those in support of Radiohead.

Starring a heavily-pregnant Natalie Portman, ‘My Willing Heart’ was directed by Anna Rose Holmer and filmed in Los Angeles. Centring around Portman in and out of water, the visuals shift the emphasis of the track’s lyrics from lovelorn romanticism to maternal anticipation with subtle monochrome images, blended together with soft-focus textures.

Released with little to no prior warning, The Colour In Anything featured diverse contributions from Bon Iver, Frank Ocean, Rick Rubin and Quentin Blake (whose illustrations formed the album’s instantly-iconic artwork). In support of the record, James headlined London’s Field Day, Green Man Festival, Glastonbury’s West Holts stage and played a succession of instantly sold-out shows on both sides of the Atlantic (including London’s Village Underground, Brixton Academy and Hammersmith Apollo). His vocal and production presence is unmistakable across 2016’s other seminal records, from Beyonce’s Grammy-winning Lemonade to Frank Ocean’s Endless and Blond LPs.

The Colour In Anything continues the remarkable rise of James Blake: a Mercury-Award-winning, Brit Award and Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and producer, whose touch can be felt throughout the modern musical landscape. He is currently working on new material.

Phantogram has an official video for their chart-climbing single “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore”, available today on YouTube / VEVO. Josh & Sarah went to the Salton Sea in California with director Grant Singer to create the stunning & slightly disturbing visual. Their third studio album Three is out October 14th on Republic. Check phantogram.com for tour dates & more news to come.

On the song & video, Phantogram shares:

You Don’t Get Me High Anymore is about the loneliness in superficial relationships and that feeling of not being able to find happiness in places that were once so easy to come across. The desolation in Bombay Beach represents that feeling really well. The area was once a promising vacation spot before the droughts and now it’s a ghost town. We were excited that Grant [Singer] picked that spot, he understood the aesthetic of the song right off the bat and ran with it.” – via FADER

Phantogram, the critically acclaimed sonic duo comprised of Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter, today announced their third studio LP, Three, to be released September 16th on Republic Records! After teasing their new single, “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore” last month, today it comes offered as an Instant Grat download with album pre-order.

Listen to “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore” here:

Since the release of their 2014 album Voices, Phantogram have trekked across the globe playing live shows and festival dates, contributed features to everyone from A-Trak to Miley Cyrus and been sampled by Kanye West, The Game and A$AP Rocky, as well as releasing their debut BIG GRAMS LP with good friend and musical partner in crime, Big Boi of Outkast. The New York bred duo made writing stops at home and in Atlanta before picking back up in Los Angeles to record Three. Carter and Barthel shared duties on production and vocals, melding elements of rock, pop, hip-hop and electronic. The resulting sound leans darker and more psychedelic yet with some of the brightest and most introspective pop melodies they’ve delivered to date, truly making them genre-defying artists for the 21st century.

In support of their new album, Phantogram will be touring across the United States and Canada this fall, kicking off in Las Vegas on September 29th and winding their way across both coasts through November 5th. Tickets for select Phantogram dates will be bundled with a digital preorder of Three.

Listen to a new exclusive mixtape created by Phantogram of some of the band’s favorite songs now on Pandora and learn about an exclusive pre-sale launching on June 22nd at 10AM local time pdora.co/phantogrammixtape.
