Yuksek also shares ‘Nous Horizon pt.2 / Re-works & edits’ DJ mix:

‘Nous Horizon’, Yuksek’s third album, came out last February to critical acclaim. It showed a new approach in his vision for electronic and pop writing. His new melodies are brighter than before; his beats and production more subtle but still convey a touch of hedonism in it’s most club-friendly sounds.

Yuksek has lined up an eclectic and surprising line-up for this reworked versions.
The record features remixes from long time friends Juveniles and Getaroom, the disco legend Dimitri From Paris, newcomers on the scene such as Destino and Ccolo ( Multi Culti ), french duet Synapson and techno rising star The Mekanism ( signed on Seth Troxler imprint ) and the coolest guy from brooklyn aka Jacques Renault.

Yuksek himself offers some alternative versions of the songs, live or edit versions making this album a real second chapter, not only a random remix package.

Reckonwrong’s Magical Journey

reckonwrong.jpeg

Reckonwrong is a young producer from London whose EPs for Whities and Pinkman have worked diverse influences from the colourful and exuberant ends of techno, post-punk and soundsystem music into a singular and loose-limbed dancefloor sound. His music flirts with goofball humour as much as heart-on-sleeve pathos, adding up to an emotionally rich musical world that will be further uncovered on his forthcoming vocal-led single for Whities.

This mix for Other People is a step away from his club sets and breaks new ground in its idiosyncratic form. While it started life as a live take, the recording has been teased apart with scissors and tape, heavily cut with original vocal and instrumental layers and dubbed into new atmospheric spaces, resulting in a uniquely heady trip which tumbles across the boundaries of its eclectic tracklist and into a vivid psychedelic swirl.

You’re going on a magical journey…

RA.500: Nicolas Jaar

ra500-x-nicolas-jaar-cvr

Resident Advisor’s Podcast No. 500 by Nicolas Jaar: A strange and lovely bricolage.

RA: On June 14th, 2010, Nicolas Jaar, who was building a reputation as the most exciting new artist on the scene, was behind one of our most adventurous mixes to date. Although not a DJ at the time, Jaar had an uncanny knack for sequencing, moving gracefully through artists diverse as Mobb Deep, Aphex Twin and Marvin Gaye. Jaar released his debut album, Space Is Only Noise, the following year, and went on to take the top spot in our live acts poll three years in a row. On stage and on record, he remains one of the most creatively unhinged artists in electronic music.

Mix was recorded in December 2015, in Brooklyn, New York. Picture is from those new machines at passport control at JFK.

Ask a friend to translate the Khalife track for you. Thanks for including me in this.
Happy New Year. Peace.”

Astronauts, etc. feat. Toro y Moi – Rocket Man

toro y moi

In anticipation of their North American fall tour, Toro y Moi and Astronauts, etc. (Anthony Ferraro, keyboardist in Toro y Moi’s live band) have teamed up and released a dreamy cover of Elton John’s “Rocket Man.” Noisey premiered the track, stating, “Oh you’re covering one of Elton John’s very best songs? Bold moves, guys, bold moves. Thing is, Oakland’s Astronauts, etc. and Toro y Moi-who are heading out on tour together next week-really nail it. Their rework is soft like cashmere on baby skin. Sweetly muted like Beck’s rework of ‘Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometimes,’ but with a funked up bass holding it all down and shivery synth middle eight that’s quite magic.”

Following much-lauded summer festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and FYF Fest, Toro y Moi’s North American tour, featuring openers Astronauts, etc., will kick off next week on September 19 at Portland’s Revolution Hall and continue with over 30+ dates, including appearances at Miami’s Ill Points Festival and Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest.

Last month, Toro y Moi released Samantha, a collection of 20 tracks, including collaborations with Kool A.D., Rome Fortune, Washed Out, and Nosaj Thing, among others. Samantha is available for free download here. Samantha follows What For?, Toro y Moi’s acclaimed ’70s pop-influenced fourth album.

Dinnerdate – Want You EP + Teecket mixtape

dinnerdate

Belows you can stream the latest EP on Kallias imprint from Munich’s producer/DJ Dinnerdate. His wide variety of creative influences is build up in his music, mainly preferred in the indie and deep house sector.

“Want you” is a bright, chilled and laid back foundation combined with thickened vocals: “I don’t know, I don’t know what you want me to do…

Track 2 is called “Leech”. The song features a pressing bass line, specially quantisized, claps and acczentuated EQ dalliances. Dinnerdate is spreading creativity on a very high level here. Taking the speed out with a nice and mellow rhodes melody that is supported by a picking guitar. He’s leeching our heart and then he’s coming back even brighter and at the same time even simpler than before.

To start off 2015 Dinnerdate also did a little “filled-with-positive-vibes” mixtape for his homies from the Paris fashion label Teecket. Check it ouy below.
